Dr. Brian Clardy, associate professor of History at Murray State University, has been unanimously elected the next Chair of the Kentucky Humanities Council (KHC) Board of Directors. Clardy was first appointed to the KHC and the Kentucky Oral History Commission by Governor Andy Beshear in 2020. He currently serves as the Vice Chair of the KHC Board to Judge Charles W. Boteler of Louisville, and chair of the Kentucky Oral History Commission.
Ashley Pizzolato, a senior Japanese major and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) minor from Donaldson, Arkansas, recently won the Silver Award in the College Division II category of Japanese Learning Inspired Vision and Engagement (J.LIVE) Talk, a national Japanese language speech competition.
The Murray State University Nonprofit Leadership Studies program has presented the 2022 Giving Back Endowment Grant Award to the Playhouse in the Park in recognition of its long-term success in youth development across the community. The funds will be utilized to support The Penguin Project.
The Dr. Jo Robertson Early Childhood Education Scholarship was established as an endowment by gifts to the Murray State University Foundation, Inc. (MSU Foundation) from family and friends of Dr. Jo Robertson as a way to memorialize her loving spirit and to assist students at Murray State University in obtaining an education to prepare them for a career in the field of early childhood education.
Dr. Marc Polizzi, associate professor of Political Science at Murray State University, along with two co-authors, Dr. Moisés Arce, the Scott and Marjorie Cowen chair in Latin American Social Sciences and professor in the Department of Political Science at Tulane University, and Dr. Michael S. Hendricks, assistant professor in the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University, published The Roots of Engagement: Understanding Opposition and Support for Resource Extraction with Oxford University Press.
