Institute II
Receive feedback about plans for implementation of inquiry-based
activities in your science course(es);
Conduct additional work on improving evaluation and assessment
skills; and
Begin examination of various forms of scholarship about teaching
and learning that includes ideas about design and implementation of
research and scholarship.
Participants MUST BRING the following as
each is necessary for the workshop activities:
One copy of a syllabus for a class that you intend to "reform"
(also a schedule of course activities if those are not described in your
syllabus)
Three copies of a final exam for the same class as above
Any written materials you have produced for use in a class a a
result of the May workshop (class activities, "lab" activities,
assessment instruments, etc.)
Other items to bring:
Your FIRST II binder (with all contents) and black notebook
Your team's Active Learning book by Johnson, Johnson, and Smith
Haluk Cetin (MSU) explains examples of different
types of assessment
for a geoscience activity
