Asbestos Awareness
It is the policy of Murray State University, in conjunction with the Office of Environmental Safety and Health, to hire outside contractors for asbestos abatement, and any work on or around asbestos that has the potential to cause employees exposure to the substance. Annual, OSHA Level IV training, designed to protect employees through explaining the basic control measures of: anticipating where the substance may be encountered, recognizing it, and procedures to follow for informed evaluation and control of the substance, shall be conducted for all at risk employees. Designated employees who are active participants in the Respiratory Protection Program shall, in lieu of a specialized contractor, perform immediate work in the event of an emergency. Annual OSHA Level III training, according to the guidelines and procedures sited in the Asbestos Awareness Written Program, supports this policy.
