Staff Congress is currently accepting applications for those who wish to run for a seat on the Congress.

Staff can run for a Staff Congress position based on where their job is positioned on the University’s organizational chart or they can seek one of the campus-wide positions.

  • President — 1 position
  • Academic Affairs — 2 positions
  • Finance and Administrative Services — 2 positions
  • Student Affairs & Enrollment Mgt. — 1 position
  • At-Large (all staff vote in this category) — 3 positions
  • Extended Campus (only extended-campus staff can run/vote in this category) — 1 position

* Employment categories and eligibility will be verified by Human Resources. If a candidate files for a category for which they are not eligible to run, they will be contacted and their name will be listed in the category for which they are eligible.

  • classified as a regular staff employee
  • at least one-year of continuous employment at Murray State University as of the date of the election (April 23, 2024)
  • do not hold one of these job titles: president, provost/vice president, associate provost, assistant provost, vice president, assistant vice president,  associate vice president, dean, or assistant dean

Term length–3 years (July 1, 2024–June 30, 2027)

Staff Congress meets monthly. The meetings are normally held at 1:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday afternoon of the month. This may be moved to a different Wednesday afternoon due to University closures or campus events.

Candidate intent forms will be accepted for a two-week period ending at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024. 

The election will be held on VoteNet from 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, April 23 to 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. You may access VoteNet through myGate. Look for the elections box on your myGate home page.

Candidate intent forms will be accepted for a two-week period ending at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
