Let’s face it, for many students, transferring from another institution may seem daunting, new, and uncertain, but the Transfer Center at Murray State University is here to flip that narrative. As semesters come and go, we find that Transfer students have many decisions to make. Some come from near, some far, some know their plan, and some find life taking a different course, but no matter the situation, the truth is that all students pursuing a degree long for a place to belong, feel connected, and above all, receive a top-quality education that will shape their future and career goals. 

As we take this scenario into mind within our day-to-day work, we set our sights on creating events that both make this process easy and help students to find their home away from home - either in the heart of Murray, online, or at one of our regional campus locations. For the past few years, the Transfer Center at Murray State University has partnered with our surrounding community colleges and Regional Campuses to bring opportunity for potential students to take their next step in joining the Racer family. That step you may ask? Racer VIP events. Over the years, this name has adjusted and themes have changed, but the goal remains the same - for all students to realize that at Murray State University, they are a VIP student. 

VIP Events

Murray State University VIP events are designed for both current community college and prospective transfer students (from any regionally accredited institution) to apply to the University free of charge and receive answers to their longing questions about life as a Racer. With formats both virtually and in-person, we highlight the opportunity for all application fees to be waived, and select in-person locations to provide in-progress transcripts at the time of application. As we kicked off the new year with our first set of dates in February, we heard from the voices of our potential transfers and the reasons why they took part in this experience. Cameron Davis, from Henderson Community College states, “I figured it would be something to make myself proud of”. 

Not only do students receive the perks of a free application via promo code or waiver, but they also (if in-person) can walk away with questions answered in real-time, the opportunity to connect with our Transfer Center and Regional Campus representatives, and receive both a free t-shirt and Murray State swag! Our next VIP event will be hosted virtually the week of March 7th-11th, with in-person dates ranging from April 11th-14th at Hopkinsville Community College, Henderson Community College, West Kentucky Community & Technical College and Madisonville Community College.
