Department of Art & Design and University Galleries host spring 2025 senior capstone exhibitions

 

 

 

 

MURRAY, Ky. – The Murray State University Department of Art & Design and University Galleries are pleased to announce the capstone exhibitions of work by Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) students for spring 2025. 

The exhibitions will be on view from April 25 to May 1 in the Mary Ed Mecoy Hall Gallery and the Clara M. Eagle Galleries, located on the sixth and seventh floors of the Price Doyle Fine Arts Building on the Murray State campus. An opening reception will be held in the galleries on Friday, April 25, from 5-8 p.m.

In partial fulfillment of their graduation requirements, students pursuing a Fine Arts degree are required to present an exhibition of recent works completed during their study at Murray State University. With the guidance of individualized advisors and faculty committees and the Director of University Galleries, these capstone exhibitions generally take the form of concurrent exhibitions or small groups of students presenting as a collective within a gallery space.

 

 

 

 

An exhibition of work by students pursuing a BS in Studio Art, will feature two art majors: 

• • • “needles & knots” by Maria Castlen of Owensboro, Kentucky; BS in studio art

    • “Petals and Perspectives” by Hayley Runyon of Paris, Tennessee; BS in art education

Nine exhibitions by BFA students will also be on view:

• • • “Route 404” by Sarina Hamilton of Paducah, Kentucky; BFA in graphic design

    • “In Search of Meaning” by Cole Wyatt of Murray, Kentucky; BFA in studio art

    • “Lunch Break at BORE INK” by Lee Bezehertny of Louisville, Kentucky; BFA in studio art

    • “Starry Station” by Avery Wilson of Murray, Kentucky; BFA in graphic design

    • “In Her Words” by Amber Ryan Lockhart of Cape Town, South Africa; BFA in studio art

    • “Virtual Visions” by Emma Nelson of Murray, Kentucky; BFA in graphic design

    • “Irene and the Buffalo Boys” by Matthew Best of Jackson, Tennessee; BFA in graphic design

    • “Earthen Tea Company” by Dawn Critser of Henderson, Kentucky; BFA in graphic design

    • “Beyond Remission” by Moira Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; BFA in graphic design

The University Galleries visitor hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to  4:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to the galleries is free and open to the public.
