MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State University is proud to announce a record-breaking year of fundraising, securing $21.3 million in donations and new commitments from alumni, faculty, staff, friends and corporate partners. This unprecedented achievement represents the commitment and dedication of the Racer community.

Over the past year, more than $10.1 million in outright donations were received, providing an immediate impact through the University’s Be Bold: Forever Blue & Gold Centennial Campaign. These gifts will be instrumental in advancing the University’s strategic initiatives including student scholarships, faculty support and development, enhancements to facilities across Murray State campuses and innovative programs and collaborative research projects. The Be Bold Campaign has a goal of reaching $100 million in total and has now surpassed over $83.3 million in support toward that goal.

Dr. Bob Jackson, President of Murray State University, expressed his gratitude and excitement for the future: "We are very grateful for this record-setting year of fundraising which is a testament to the unwavering support and tremendous generosity of our alumni and friends. This unprecedented private support enables us to continue providing exceptional educational opportunities, student scholarships and other financial aid, and to advance our mission of preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives. Together, we are building a brighter future for our region and state and assisting current and future generations of students who will benefit from these transformational gifts."

The Be Bold Campaign is inspiring donors to support students and programs across the University. Scholarships and other financial aid support is at an all-time record with $127 million over the last year. As a part of this campaign, the largest estate gift received in the University’s history was made by Bill (’49) and Merry Wadsworth Garrett of Winter Haven, Florida. The Garrett estate gift will benefit the Hutson School of Agriculture and especially the area of veterinary sciences. Giving to Racer Athletics has also been record-setting and historic this year with more donors and more transformational gifts than have ever before been received in the history of the program.

Dr. Tina Bernot, executive director of advancement added, “The University’s Office of Development and our Advancement colleagues played a crucial role in this achievement, working tirelessly to engage with donors and cultivate meaningful relationships. Key initiatives contributing to this success include a record day of giving through Give Bold, special campaign events held around the country hosted by our Be Bold National Campaign Council, and our overall efforts to consistently communicate the goals of the campaign and the strong vision of our leadership for the future of Murray State University.”

The Office of Development builds relationships and generates resources that advance the mission of Murray State University by seeking to cultivate a culture of philanthropy that engages the entire campus community. The office facilitates private financial support from alumni, friends, corporations and foundations for institutional priorities as outlined through the University’s strategic planning process.
