MURRAY, Ky. Murray State University’s Hunt Seat Equestrian Team hosted two Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Hunt Seat Shows March 27-28 and had a very successful weekend, finishing as High Point Team and Reserve High Point Team. This included five out of nine first place finishes. Equestrian team captain Gabrielle Lee of Elgin, Illinois was named High Point Individual rider on March 27 and Reserve High Individual of the show on March 28, placing first in fences and flat in the open division.

“It was a very successful weekend,” said Sue Robinson, coach, coordinator of riding and lecturer with Murray State’s Hutson School of Agriculture. “Riders from both the hunt seat team and the stock seat team worked very hard to host a successful pair of horse shows.”

Earlier in March, the team traveled to Middle Tennessee State University for their first competition after not competing in the fall, finishing as Reserve High Point Team on day one of the competition and High Point Team on the second day. Madison Kirby of Fisherville, Kentucky was High Point Individual with a first place in both limit fences and flat. Jessika Davis of Vine Grove, Kentucky placed first in the novice division to finish her points and qualify for postseason competition.

Added Robinson, “I was very proud of the team as we also took five horses to be used at the show. They not only rode well but took care of the horses and had them ready when they were needed for their classes.”
