MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State University has named Erin Fairweather and Mallory White as the recipients of the fall 2024 Outstanding Senior recognition. Students recognized with this honor are known for their academic excellence and professionalism.

Erin Fairweather, the child of Neil and Rachael Fairweather of Liberty Township, Ohio, will earn a bachelor’s degree in Global Language/Spanish Translation and Interpretation and a minor in Nonprofit Leadership Studies.

A member of Murray State’s Honors College and a Presidential Fellow, Fairweather has completed education abroad experiences in Spain, is a member and former chapter president of the Alpha Mu Gamma Foreign Language Honor Society, and serves as a Spanish tutor in Murray State’s Tutoring Center.

After graduation, Fairweather plans to pursue a career in Spanish communication in a nonprofit or educational setting.

“I have loved my time at Murray State, and it is an honor to graduate as an Outstanding Senior,” said Fairweather. “Receiving this award is a testament to the personal attention and encouragement the Murray faculty have invested in my undergraduate career. It has been a blessing to learn and grow from the teachings of so many talented professors, especially from the Department of Global Languages and the Nonprofit Leadership Studies Program. I look forward to applying the knowledge and skills I have gained in my future endeavors. I know I am leaving Murray, Kentucky, well equipped for whatever challenges come next.”

Mallory White, the child of Ryan and Brooke White of Sturgis, Kentucky, will earn a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Production and Sales with an accelerated master’s in Agronomy.

A member of Murray State’s Honors College and a Presidential Fellow, White has served in many leadership roles within the University’s Hutson School of Agriculture such as the agriculture leadership council and the agronomy club. She served as National FFA Eastern Region Vice President from October 2021 through October 2022, leading an organization with more than 840,000 members and 1 million agriculture students.

Said White: “What a blessing it is to have been named one of the Outstanding Senior Graduates for 2024! Throughout my time as a student at Murray State, I have experienced first-hand how hospitable and heartfelt the service and leadership of each member of the Racer Family is. It's this same service and leadership that fosters the kind of environment where students thrive and valuable community members are created. I can’t thank Murray State University and the Hutson School of Agriculture enough for providing me with the opportunities, hope and encouragement needed to gain a world-class education and to step into my career as a confident young professional.”
