MSU recognized nationally by Colleges of Distinction in its 2024-2025 rankings

MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State University has been recognized nationally by Colleges of Distinction in its 2024-2025 “Best Colleges” rankings. 

According to its website, Colleges of Distinction notes colleges and universities which are:

• Nationally recognized by education experts as an exceptional school.

• Committed to teaching undergraduates. 

• A place with a wide range of cutting-edge educational opportunities.

• A vibrant campus community that offers unique opportunities for growth.

• Highly valued by graduate schools and employers for its outstanding preparation.

Murray State was the only public, regional comprehensive university in Kentucky which was recognized. Specific academic areas in business, education, engineering and nursing were also noted, as well as the University’s overall affordability. 

Recognized as one of America’s best college values, Murray State has been recognized nationally for both quality and value within the past month as a “Best Bang for the Buck” by Washington Monthly, one of the “Best Colleges in the United States” by the Wall Street Journal and by Niche on its “2025 Best Colleges in Kentucky list.”

Preliminary enrollment data indicates that Murray State’s fall 2024 freshman class is the fourth largest in the University’s history and the second largest in the past decade following last fall’s record-breaking freshmen enrollment, as well as the largest overall enrollment since 2016.
