Orientation
The college experience at Murray State begins with Racer Nation Orientation. All incoming new freshmen and new transfer students are expected to attend one of the eight one-day sessions available. Orientation has been designed to assist you in developing an understanding about the transition you will make to your collegiate environment at Murray State and to enhance your success at Murray State. Attending orientation will be your earliest chance to register for fall classes.
Through the Racer Restart initiative and planning process, Murray State University will follow a collaborative, thoughtful and proactive approach in re-opening campus. This includes events such as Racer Nation Orientation.
At this time, we are planning both virtual and in-person orientation sessions. In-person sessions will be hybrid sessions which incorporates elements of both the in-person and virtual modules.
Should future safety regulations prevent us from hosting this event in-person, your orientation session will be moved to a virtual event on the same date and you will be contacted as soon as possible.
How to Register for the Type of Orientation You Are Interested In
When you access the Racer Nation Orientation site from your myGate pay close attention to the dates available. Some dates will be strictly virtual orientation sessions; and some sessions will have both virtual and in-person sessions. Carefully select the type of orientation you would like to attend.
Racer Safe & Healthy Guidelines for In-Person Orientation
Walk-in students cannot be accommodated at this time. So that we can offer the safest, most positive orientation experience as possible, registration is required.
- There will be safety precautions you will need to adhere to in order to attend an
in person orientation session.
Guests are limited. We ask that the prospective student and only one (1) guest attend the session. - All students, faculty, staff and campus visitors must wear a face covering/mask, unless exempted with documentation by a medical professional.
- Students and guests will be subject to temperature checks. Please reschedule your orientation session if you are not feeling well.
- The CDC continues to recommend maintaining a distance of six feet from others. Please adhere to this guideline while on campus.
