2021 Wellness Pledge

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled in Murray State’s health plan - AND -
  • Must elect Pledge during Open Enrollment 2021.

Phase 1 

Phase 1 - $150 incentive paid upon completion – June 2021

If enrolled in a HDHP plan, the $150 will be deposited in your HSA account.
If enrolled in a PPO plan, the $150 will be discounted from June health insurance premium.

YOU MUST COMPLETE PHASE 1 BETWEEN JANUARY 1, 2021 - JUNE 1, 2021 TO MOVE TO PHASE 2.

Complete and/or attend a combination of 4 Racer Wellness sanctioned events, activities and screenings.

Racer Wellness Screening Information

2021 Wellness Pledge screening requirements:
Acceptable preventive screenings are listed below.​
Screenings must be filed through Murray State University insurance.
Screenings must take place between July 1, 2020 - May 31, 2021.
Proof of preventive screenings will be obtained through name only reports from Murray State benefit vendors.

Acceptable preventive screenings 
Annual wellness visit
Cervical cancer screening (women's exam)
Cholesterol screening
Colon cancer screening
*Dental examination
Dermatology skin screening
Diabetes screening (fasting glucose)
Heel scan bone density screening
Mammogram
Prostate cancer screening (PSA)
*Vision screening.
*Must carry Murray State insurance for wellness pledge screening, can use health plan if using vision screening.

Make sure a minimum of three calls are completed within the same Phase to receive credit.

Healthy Lifestyles: Monthly Challenges
The link below provides information for all monthly challenges. Challenges that fit in the time frame or Phase 1 and/or Phase 2 will count as sanctioned events for the Pledge.  2021 Healthy Lifestyles Challenges Information  Name only reports will be sent to Racer Wellness to confirm completion of challenges for the Wellness Pledge. 


Real Age Test
Assessment provided by Healthy Lifestyles that will provide you with a well-rounded assessment of your well-being.
The Real Age Test is on the Healthy Lifestyles website.  Racer Wellness will receive a monthly report a name only for Wellness Pledge credit.

 
Tobacco Cessation Course
Murray State will offer a Freedom From Smoking course in the late spring. Details TBA.
Freedom From Smoking courses are offered locally and completion of the course will count for a sanctioned event.
Racer Wellness must receive documentation of completion from the course instructor.


EAP Soft Skills Course – Wayne Corporation website 
Complete one of the many available soft skills courses on the Wayne Corporation website.
Access the Wayne Corporation website, login or create a login and click on “soft skills courses”.
Wayne Corporation website instructions.
Submit the certificate of completion (generated at the end) to msu.racerwellness@murraystate.edu for Wellness Pledge credit.

July Lunch and Learn (in person event): Fall Gardening | Dr. Alyx Shultz, Professor, Hutson School of Agriculture
Wednesday, July 7th | 12pm – 12:45pm
Location: Curris Center Small Ballroom (3rd level)
 A Zoom option will be available if you choose to not attend in person. Please fill out the registration form and you will receive a Zoom link prior to the event. Participants will plant a fall garden item to take home.  Attendance in person or on the live Zoom will count as a sanctioned event for Phase 2 of the 2021 Wellness Pledge.

Lunch Break Walking Group
Wednesday July 7, 14, 21 and 28 | Check-in: 11am - 11:30am
Location: Check-in will be by Ordway Lawn
Faculty and Staff are invited and encouraged to join Racer Wellness in walking on campus during the month of July. 
Racer Wellness will have a sign-in table every Wednesday in July set up at Ordway Lawn from 11am – 11:30am. Upon sign-in, walking routes and times will be done on an individual basis.  Attending the Walking Group will count as a maximum of one sanctioned event (regardless of how many weeks are attended) for Phase 2 of the 2021 Wellness Pledge. 

Employee Watermelon Social
Wednesday, July 28 | 1pm - 3pm (drop-in)
Location: Waterfield Library Breezeway
Racer Wellness and Human Resources invite faculty and staff to celebrate summer by stopping by to enjoy watermelon and social time with fellow employees!

September  Walking Group
Wednesday September 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 | Check-in: 11am - 11:30am
Location: Check-in will be by the MSU Gates (located next to Ordway Lawn)

Friday, September 24, 2021 | 2pm – 3:30pm
Location: Susan E. Bauernfeind Wellness Center.
Please email the Wellness Center at msu.wellnesscenter@ murraystate.edu to schedule an appointment.
Participation in this program will count as one sanctioned event for Phase 2 of the 2021 Wellness Pledge.


Virtual Lunch and Learn: Healthy Eating on Campus
Wednesday, September 29, 2021 | 12pm – 12:45pm

This event is free and available to all Murray State faculty and staff. Please register here by 9am on 9/29 and the Zoom link will be sent via email prior to the event.
