Welcome to the Governor’s Scholars Program at Murray State University 2024. We are committed to the academic and personal growth of Kentucky’s next generation of civic and economic leaders. GSP at Murray provides the ideal balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience.

Counselor’s Day

Counselor's Day will be held from 2:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. central, Wednesday, July 17 in Room 104 of the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business Building on 16th Street on the Murray State University campus. 
If you are parking on campus you will need to complete the Google Form for a Visitor Parking Permit. This permit will be a virtual permit. There will be no need to place anything in the dashboard or hang from the rearview mirror. Ideally, you should complete the Google Form before coming to campus.

College Fair

The GSP-Murray College Fair will be held from 3-5 p.m. Central, Tuesday, July 23.


The College Fair will take place on the second floor inside the Collins Industry & Technology Center (known as the IT Building) located on Chestnut Street. The campus map lists the building as No. 22. The best parking option is in the large lot in front of the IT Building. 

 

For parking, complete the Google Form for a Visitor Parking Permit. This permit will be a virtual permit. There will be no need to place anything in the dashboard or hang from the rear veiw mirror. Ideally, you should complete the Google Form before coming to campus.

 

One table will be available for each institution, and space will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. The facility will be open at 2 p.m. for entry. The fairs will follow KASCAC and NACAC guidelines regarding use of multimedia equipment, drawing for prizes, or handouts of items other than printed recruitment materials. Electrical outlets will not be available.

 

Closing Day

The closing schedule for GSP-Murray is as follows:

Friday, July 26th:

6:30 p.m.: Final Banquet (for scholars only)

10:00 p.m.: Community event (for scholars only)

Saturday, July 27th:

Mementos, including Closing Ceremony photos, campus flash drives, sweatshirts, etc., can be purchased at Lovett Auditorium prior to the start of the ceremony.

8:50 a.m.: All family and friends should be seated in Lovett Auditorium at this time.

9:00 a.m.: GSP-Murray Alumni Association Induction Ceremony

Move-Out Times and Procedures

There will be two (2) move-out times on Friday and Saturday, July 26th and July 27th. Your scholar must sign up for a move-out time on their residence hall during the weekend of July 19th  – July 21stPlease make your scholar aware of your preference.

1. Friday Night, July 26th: 10:15 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

a) Your scholar must have all belongings packed and appropriately labeled by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26th. They should keep all the necessities that they will require overnight, e.g. toiletries, GSP T-shirt,    Saturday morning clothes.   

b) Parents and/or family members will move out all packed/labeled items between 10:15 and 11:30 p.m. on Friday night, July 26th, while their scholar is at a community event.

c) Scholars who choose this move-out time will be able to depart campus almost immediately following the closing ceremony on Saturday morning, July 27th, which concludes no later than 11:00 a.m.   

d) Before leaving campus, on Saturday, July 27thall scholars must check out with their resident advisor and turn in their room key to Murray Housing Staff at the front desk

2. Saturday Morning, July 27th: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

a) Your scholar must have all belongings packed and ready to move out by 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27th.

b) Scholars and their families will move out all items immediately following Closing Ceremony on Saturday morning, July 27th, which concludes no later then 11:00 a.m.

c) Before leaving campus, all scholars must check out with their resident advisor and turn in their room key to Murray Housing Staff at the front desk.
