When is Family Weekend 2019?
Family Weekend is September 20-22, 2019. This is a great time to visit campus to see your student’s college home! Many fun events are planned for the weekend so your family can have a great time together and learn more about Murray State University.
Where can I find the schedule of events?
What is the cost for Family Weekend?
The registration fee for Family Weekend is $35. Other activities, as noted on the schedule, have a fee and some of these can be paid online with the registration site. Many activities are free, as noted on the schedule. The $35 registration fee includes lunch, football game, access to various on-campus events including the keynote speaker, Alison Malmon from Active Minds, and a souvenir bag.
When can I register my family for Family Weekend?
Online registration is open from June 14 to September 6, 2019. Go to Family Weekend Registration to register.

I registered and received two confirmation numbers. Why do I need two numbers?
The online registration system will generate two confirmation numbers. One is for payment of the Family Weekend fee and the other is for optional items purchased (Fanfare, tailgates, etc.). You should receive email confirmations of your purchase(s). If not, please check your spam email folder.
What events can my student attend?
Your student is encouraged to attend all events with you during Family Weekend.
Are the tailgates open to all families?
The Alumni tailgate is open to all families. The Racer Band tailgate is only for Racer Band families.
Can we bring grandparents and other relatives to Family Weekend?
Yes, all family members are welcome.
What if I have more than one student attending the University?
You can include all of your students in one family registration. Keep in mind that students get in free to the football game with their Racer Card ID.
Are divorced parents considered one family or two?
If you register for Family Weekend separately, then you will be considered two separate families. You may, however, register together and be considered one family.
What if I need to make changes to my registration after I have already submitted and paid?

What if I miss the deadline to register online?
Registration for Family Weekend will close on September 6 at 4:30 pm. You can attend most of the events; however the lunch is only available to pre-registered guests. You can purchase football tickets by contacting the MSU ticket office at 270.809.3000. Many events are free and some you can pay for at the door. Please see the Family Weekend schedule for details. There will be no in-person, on-site registration for Family Weekend so please register early and before September 6.
Is housing provided for Family Weekend guests?
No, you will be responsible for your own housing. Area accommodations are available on the travel page.
Can my student pick up my welcome packet for our family prior to Family Weekend?
Yes, students may pick up their family’s welcome packet in the Student Affairs Office, 425 Wells Hall, on Monday, September 16 through Friday, September 20 between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Students may need to show their Racer Card ID. Packets may also be picked up on Saturday, September 21 from 7:30-9:30 am at Stewart Stadium, Field Level and at lunch from Noon-2:00 pm.
Where do I pick-up football tickets?
For those who pre-ordered football tickets through the Family Weekend Registration site, football tickets may be picked up on Saturday, September 21 from 7:30-9:30 am at Stewart Stadium, Field Level and at lunch from Noon-2:00 pm as well as prior to the game at Gate 4 of Stewart Stadium.
How many football tickets am I allowed to reserve?
Families will receive four (4) adult football tickets with their Family Weekend registration. Kids through College are free and Racer Students are free. If more than four adult tickets are needed, general admission tickets ($12) can be purchased prior to the game through the Ticket Office at 270-809-3000. Day of Game purchases may be made in-person at Gates 3, 4, 6 at Stewart Stadium.
Should I bring my own lawn chairs for the Saturday lunch?
You are welcome to bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, small tents for shade, etc. The University Bookstore (located in the Curris Center) will also have lawn chairs, blankets, and seat cushions available for purchase. There will be a limited number of tables, folding chairs, and tents available during the lunch. Please note that Murray State is not responsible for any personal items.
Can you guarantee good weather for Family Weekend?
We wish we could! We are hoping for a sunny day with temperatures in the 70’s or 80’s but please come prepared for rain, very cool temperatures, or very warm temperatures.
Where can I find a campus map?
The campus map is available online. A map will also be included in your welcome packet.
Can I sit with my student during the Murray State football game?
Yes, your tickets will be general admission, and you may sit with your student.
Do I need to register my vehicle to park on campus?
Yes, if you will be joining us for Family Weekend, please access the Family Weekend Parking Registration site to register your vehicle. If you have questions about parking, please contact our Parking Services office at 270-809-4812 or visit their website at murraystate.edu/parking.
Where can I park during Family Weekend?
Access the parking zone map and other parking information at murraystate.edu/parking. Please observe and respect reserved spaces for handicap parking, special staff (i.e. Resident Directors), university vehicles, and emergency vehicles.
I will be driving my RV to Family Weekend. Where can I park?
Can I set up my own tailgate for the football game?
Tailgating spots in the Stewart Stadium parking lot are first come first serve. If you have any questions regarding tailgating please contact Racer Athletics at 270.809.3369.
Is Murray State a tobacco free campus?
As of August 5, 2015, Murray State is a tobacco-free campus. Here is a statement from the Murray State Tobacco Policy: The use of all tobacco products is prohibited on all property that is owned, operated, leased, occupied, or controlled by the University.
