Building Use

Murray State students, faculty and staff are welcome to use this facility for educational and recreational purposes as provided for in the facility policies and procedures.

  • A valid picture I.D. is required to check out equipment room items.

  • No one under the age of 18 will be permitted with out adult supervision. You may be required to show picture I.D. and proof of age.

Academics

The John W. Carr Hall building is also used to house the College of Education and Human Services' Department of Criminal Justice and Social Work. Programs offered here include criminal justice and social work. To learn more, please visit the Department's web pages.

History of the Building

The John W. Carr Hall building is named in honor of the first president of the University, Dr. John W. Carr. This building was constructed in 1937 and received renovations in 1975 and 2000. Erected at a cost of $240,000, it originally housed a boxing ring among other recreational space. Today, the building maintains two gymnasiums, a dance studio, two activity spaces and multiple classrooms.
