Emily and Jathan Thompson

 

Emily Thompson ('21) shared about meeting her SoleMate, Jathan ('21).

"Jathan Thompson and I met both of our freshman years at Murray when my English 105 class had to observe a group on campus for a semester and write an analysis on the group. I chose the cheerleading team because I cheered in high school and saw some good potential for my paper. I observed the team at practices for several weeks, and when it came time to do interviews I reached out to one of my one friends on the team who sent me all the numbers of the team members. I reached out to a random guy (Jathan) for an interview, and truly the rest is history. It ended up that he had called "dibs" to the guys on the team, so when I reached out he took advantage of the opportunity to get to know me! We spent our years at Murray State having many Winslow dates, going to every football and basketball game together, and eventually walked across the graduation stage together. We got engaged before our last semester of school and were married on August 6 of 2022. We are so grateful for MSU and its impact on our relationship!"
