Financial Aid

At Murray State University, we believe that no one should be denied an education because of financial need. That's why we work hard to provide a host of financial opportunities such as grants, loans, part-time employment, and state KEES scholarships.

The mission of the Office of Financial Aid is to offer opportunities for students to gain access to higher education through financial assistance from federal, state, and institutional aid. Our office strives to provide the highest quality of service while awarding all possible financial assistance and  supporting the University’s recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts to enable students the ability to achieve their desired educational goals.

Complete the FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an annual application that is required to determine a student's eligibility for grants, loans, and Federal Work-Study.  FAFSA applications become available each October 1st for the following academic year.  Complete the FAFSA online.

It is important that applicants apply for the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available in October. Some financial aid is awarded based on the initial FAFSA filing date. Using prior-prior year tax information will make the FAFSA process easier for families an students.

To make the FAFSA even easier, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) that is available through the online FAFSA.

If you and/or your family have experienced a recent job loss or a significant reduction in income and you have already filed the 2021-2022 FAFSA, you can submit a 2021-2022 Professional Judgment Form Located on the Forms section of the Financial Aid/Scholarship portion of myGate.
