Kendall Clark

As we start a new academic year, the Nutrition and Dietetics faculty interviewed the current president of the Student Nutrition Association (SNA), Kendall Clark, to learn more about Kendall and SNA’s goals for the coming year.  Here’s what Kendall had to say…

What brought you to Murray State, Kendall?
When I came to tour Murray State University during my senior year of high school, I was undecided about where I wanted to go. During my tour, I had a tour guide who was blind. I thought it was so neat how they were so inclusive and let him be at the forefront of the university. In that moment, I decided that I wanted to be a part of a university that looked beyond disabilities and was willing to give everyone the opportunity to participate.

What are you majoring in, and why?
I am a dietetics major with the end goal of being a registered dietitian. I fell in love with nutrition in high school and knew that I wanted to pursue it as a career. I have always loved the geriatric population and nutrition can play such a huge role in their everyday lives, so one day I hope to be able to work in a geriatric facility.

Tell us a little about the Student Nutrition Association (SNA) and their role on campus and in the community.
The purpose of the Student Nutrition Association is to provide a framework for meaningful student involvement and to foster an interest in the profession of nutrition and dietetics. The Student Nutrition Association’s goal is to educate the community through nutrition related activities and to provide credible nutrition information. We volunteer with local organizations as well as promote overall wellness and nutrition on campus and throughout the community!

What are you hoping to see accomplished by SNA this year?
My hope is that SNA will be able to go out and broaden the scope of nutrition knowledge in the community this year. I want to see our members spend time at the local food pantry, retirement homes, and the wellness center here on campus.
