Supporting Excellence in Teaching
The Teacher Quality Institute of Murray State University is pleased to announce their Supporting Excellence in Teaching (SET) program. The SET program is an opportunity for new teachers as well as teachers who might need extra support.
Program Description
Through the SET program, participating teachers will receive coaching from an MSU TQI staff member. The teacher will also be mentored by a teacher peer selected by the participating school's principal. At the onset of the program, a TQI staff member, the teacher participant, sponsoring principal and mentoring teacher will have a meeting to discuss the program and expectations. Participants will be observed three times by the TQI staff. The TQI staff, sponsoring principal, teacher participant and mentoring teacher will collaborate together to create a development plan for the participating teacher. Applications are accepted yearly during the summer. Some areas that can be developed through this program include engagement strategies, classroom management, KY standards, parental contact, planning and assessment.
