2024 Wellness Pledge

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled in Murray State’s health plan - AND -
  • Must elect Pledge during Open Enrollment 2023.
  • Participants who do not complete Phase 1 will not be eligible for Phase 2.
  • If Phase 1 is NOT completed, employees will incur a penalty of $180, assessed monthly September 2024 - November 2024.
  • If Phase 2 is NOT completed, employees will incur a penalty of $120, assessed monthly November 2024 - December 2024.

Phase 1

Complete Phase 1 between January 1, 2024, and May 31, 2024, to be eligible for incentive AND move on to Phase 2.

Incentive paid in January 2024

  • HDHP plan members receive $150 in HSA account
  • PPO plan members receive $150 discount on January premium

Phase 1 Options

You must complete and/or attend 4 Racer Wellness sanctioned events, activities and screenings during January 1, 2024 - May 31, 2024 (with the exception of preventive screenings that backdate to June 1, 2023). This list may be added to throughout the year.

2024 Wellness Pledge screening requirements:

  1. Screenings must be filed through Murray State University insurance.
  2. Screenings must take place between June 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024.
  3. Proof of preventive screenings will be obtained through name only reports from Murray State benefit vendors. This means that Wellness Pledge participants' preventive screenings must be processed through health, vision and/or dental benefit offerings in order to receive Phase 1 credit. 

Acceptable preventive screenings 

  • Annual wellness visit
  • Cervical cancer screening (women's exam)
  • Cholesterol screening
  • Colon cancer screening
  • Dental examination
  • Dermatology skin screening
  • Diabetes screening (fasting glucose)
  • Heel scan bone density screening
  • Mammogram
  • Prostate cancer screening (PSA)
  • Vision screening
  • Must complete a minimum of three calls.
  • Get started online or call 877.252.8410.
  • Make sure a minimum of three calls are completed within the same Phase to receive credit.
  • Racer Wellness will receive a name only report for Wellness Pledge credit.

Challenges that fit in the time frame for Phase 1 will count as sanctioned events for the Pledge. Name only reports will be sent to Racer Wellness to confirm completion of challenges for the Wellness Pledge. 

  • Assessment provided by Healthy Lifestyles that will provide you with a well-rounded assessment of your well-being.
  • The Real Age Test is on the Sharecare (Healthy Lifestyles) website
  • Racer Wellness will receive a monthly report with your name only for Wellness Pledge credit.
  • Freedom From Smoking courses are offered locally and completion of the course will count for a sanctioned event.
  • Racer Wellness must receive documentation of completion from the course instructor.

Complete one of the many available soft skills courses on the Wayne Corporation website.

  1. Access the Wayne Corporation website, login or create a login and click on “soft skills courses”.
  2. Submit the certificate of completion (generated at the end) to msu.racerwellness@murraystate.edu for Wellness Pledge credit.

Speaker: A panel from Dr. Elizabeth Gordon's Health Promotion Programming Class

Join our Lunch and Learn to learn about Type 2 Diabetes. We will learn about the causes, symptoms, treatments and the possibilities of reversing it.

Join our Lunch and Learn to learn about Hinge Health, a program that is  available to Murray State faculty, staff and dependents 18+ on the Murray State Health Plan at no out-of-pocket cost.

Hinge Health is a program that allows you to receive personalized care for muscle and joint pain through a digital musculoskeletal clinic  that includes both physical and behavioral support from a complete care team. To learn more, watch the video detailing the benefit.

Inflatable Lung Event

Tuesday, April  23 | 11:00am – 1:00pm

Curris Center 1st level)

Faculty and staff are invited to walk through an inflatable lung to see firsthand what a healthy and unhealthy lung looks like. You will also receive education on the lung and preventive screening guidelines.

This event is done in partnership with the Kentucky Cancer Program.

Phase 2

Watermelon Social for Faculty and Staff

  • Racer Wellness and Human Resources invite faculty and staff to celebrate summer by stopping by to enjoy watermelon and social time with fellow faculty and staff!

Let's Move! Lunch Break Walking Group 

Wednesdays - July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 | 11:00am - 11:30am (check-in)

  • Faculty and Staff are invited and encouraged to join Racer Wellness in walking on campus during the month of July
  • Racer Wellness will have a sign-in table every Wednesday in July set up by the MSU Gates from 11:00am - 11:30am
  • Upon sign-in, walking routes and times will be determined by each individual
  • Attending the Walking Group will count as a maximum of one sanctioned event (regardless of how many weeks are attended) for Phase 2 of the 2024 Wellness Pledge
  • If there is inclement weather, the event will be cancelled.
  • Eligible faculty and staff who participate in an Omada program can count 6 Omada touchpoints as an event for Phase 2. Touchpoints must take place between June 1, 2024 - September 30, 2024.

  • Upon completion of your 6 touchpoints, visit the Racer Wellness form to fill out the dates of your 6 touchpoints and submit it to msu.racerwellness@murraystate.edu

  • Racer Wellness has partnered with the Murray State Foundation to offer this financial wellness session. The Murray State Foundation is purchasing copies of the speaker’s book that will be given to the first 125 registrants.

  • Freedom From Smoking courses are offered locally and completion of the course will count for a sanctioned event.

Complete 6 Hinge Health Sessions

Primary Care Provider (PCP) Campaign

 August 2024 - September 2024

We are asking faculty and staff to consider establishing a PCP. The campaign includes the following options:

  • Choosing a provider and schedule an appointment for a preventive screening that is needed for you.
  • If you already have a PCP, determine if you are up to date on all preventive screenings. If you are behind on a screening, contact your provider to schedule an appointment.
  • If you are taking the 2024 Wellness Pledge, this campaign will count for Phase 2 by completing the Primary Care Provider Campaign form.
