2.  Review the  minimum requirements and document checklist below. 

3.  Submit the online application if you are applying for direct admission to degree programs, or the $100 online application if you are applying for conditional admission through the ESL program.

4.  Upload scanned copies of your documents: passport, transcripts, graduation certificate, bank statement, test scores. You may also email us (msu.intl@murraystate.edu) with scanned copies of your documents.

Minimum Requirements and Document Checklist

Undergraduate Applicants - (Bachelor's Degree)

  • Transcripts for all years of high school with a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • If transcripts are not written in English, you must also submit certified translations
  • High School Diploma OR Graduation Certificate
  • If the graduation certificate is not written in English, you must also submit a certified translation
  • Proof of Financial Support
    • Bank Statement (issued within the last 6 months) showing a balance of at least $30,937 OR
    • Scholarship Letter
  • Copy of Passport for applicant and all dependents
  • No NECO Results will be accepted. Please submit WAEC results.  (This only applies to students submitting high school scores from Nigeria.) 
  • Proof of Language Proficiency
    • IELTS or TOEFL scores meeting minimum requirements OR
    • Minimum SAT score of 910 with minimum of 450 on Reading section OR
    • Admission to or Completion of the ESL Program at Murray State University OR
    • Degree from a secondary school located in a country where English is the native language* OR
    • British / Cambridge International Examinations: GCE, GCSE, IGCSE, AICE, or the HIGCSE certificate with five O-Level subject passes.
    • Completion of one  semester of full-time university level classes (minimum of 12 credit hours) with a 2.5 GPA or higher at an accredited US institution OR
    • Students from the following countries are not required to submit English proficiency scores: Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Belize, British Islands, Cameroon (University of Buea and University of Bamenda), Canada, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, and United Kingdom.

Graduate Applicants - (Master's and Doctoral Degrees)

Every graduate program has specific admissions requirements. Please review these requirements first.

  • Transcripts for all years of university (with university's grading scale)
  • If transcripts are not written in English, you must also submit certified translations
  • University Degree OR Graduation Certificate
  • If the graduation certificate is not written in English, you must also submit a certified translation
  • Proof of Financial Support
    • Bank Statement (issued within the last 6 months) showing a balance of at least $23,512 OR
    • Scholarship Letter
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency
    • IELTS or TOEFL scores meeting minimum requirements and graduate program requirements OR
    • Admission to or completion of the ESL Program at Murray State University OR
    • Degree from a university located in a country where English is the native language* OR
    • Students from the following countries or having graduated from the following colleges or universities are not required to submit English proficiency scores: Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Belize, British Islands, Cameroon (University of Buea and University of Bamenda), Canada, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, and United Kingdom.

Conditional Applicants Starting in the ESL Program

Students who are accepted to Murray State with conditional admission will come to Murray to take English classes in our ESL program.

Students can apply for conditional admission to all undergraduate programs and some graduate programs. For a list of graduate program requirements, click here.

Transfer Applicants - (Bachelor's Degree)
