Take Your Place in the Murray State Tradition

Education Abroad

Students | Faculty/Staff | Families | About Us

Celebrate International Education Week at MSU, November 17-21, at some of our 30+ events. You'll find discussions and panel presentations on a variety of topics, and food, art, and entertainment. See our schedule online for details.

Get out of here!

Discover study abroad through the photos of your peers: Take a look at what some of our 300 students abroad discovered last year. Then become one of them! Challenge yourself to learn anew and interact with people from around the world, people who have been raised in a different culture and tradition. Give yourself the chance to open new doors – you’ll be surprised at what you might find when you do.

Get started

Step 1: Find a program

Search for your study abroad program at our online application system, Horizons.  You can search by your major or field of study, location, term, length of program, provider, or language.  If you're not sure where to start, complete this form and a representative from the Education Abroad Office will contact you shortly.

Step 2: Meet with an advisor

We're happy to help answer any questions you may have about what you can study abroad, where you can go, and how you can afford it.  Please click on "Advising Appointments" on the left of this page to schedule an appointment with your Education Abroad Advisor.  We also accept walk-ins.

Step 3: Apply

In order to make applying easier for you and to protect the environment, we have an online application.   Once you have found a program you're interested in, make sure to read the Policies and Procedures to understand the application process.  The scholarship application will be available online once you have completed the application for your program.

After you're accepted:

You're not alone in this process.  Before you go, you are required to attend a study abroad orientation where you will learn more specific details about your program and activity, how MSU will respond in an emergency, how to remain safe and healthy while abroad, and how to maximize your learning inside and outside the classroom.  Family members are invited to attend orientation with you.
