The Kentucky GEOED '13 conference was recently held in Louisville, Ky. The Jefferson Community and Technical College hosted the one-day event.
Dr. Zhang presented "Integrating remote sensing and GIS for environmental monitoring and modeling in a small mix-use watershed in Murray, KY." This project is an on-going project integrating GIS and remote sensing for the environmental monitoring and modeling of a small mix-use watershed.
Sources of data include fine resolution optical and radar imagery and existing GIS datasets from various agencies. When completed, this project will provide a common playground for GIS, remote sensing and cartography courses at three different levels in the Department of Geosciences at Murray State University.
The GEOED conference is a yearly event which draws geospatial educators and professionals from a multi-state region. Presentations and workshops include ArcGIS development, discussions about the future of geospatial training and education, and the use of GIS data and analysis in many fields and disciplines.
