How do I view available classes?

To view online courses, visit our list of courses. If you require more detailed information, visit Murray State’s complete list of courses. Under “Instructional Method,” indicate that you are looking for a WEB course.

How do I register for a course?

After you have been admitted to Murray State University, you should receive notification in the mail about signing on to myGate. Through myGate, you can register for courses, pay bills, and view your transcripts and grades. For more information, about logging. How do I sign in to RacerMail, myGate, and Canvas?

Technical Requirements

At a minimum, you must have a computer with reliable Internet access, a current/active email address, a current browser, and word processing software, Microsoft Word. Some courses may have specific technical requirements. Please contact the instructor before class if you have questions. Click here for specific technical requirements.


All texts and instructional materials are furnished by the student. Most texts may be purchased directly from the publishing companies or the Murray State University Bookstore. Used books are sometimes available at the Murray State Bookstore. You are encouraged to call them at (270) 809-4388 or (800) 749-8580, or you may order your text online at the Bookstore’s website. Phone and online orders may be paid for with a credit card and books will be shipped directly to you.

Course Procedures

Once you are enrolled, go to the Racers Online website to see the instructions on how to get started in your online course. Choose the particular course you are enrolled in to obtain the course web site address and/or the instructor’s email address, as well as any special instructions for the course. The course will follow strict standards for instruction and grading applied in the classroom. Students should follow the schedule as listed in the course syllabus in completing assignments, and assignments are sent as e-mail attachments to your instructor.

Transcripts of College Credit

As a student completes a course, his/her record will be sent to Murray State’s Admissions and Registrar’s Office and added to their official transcript. Students can view their grades on myGate. If a student wants credit transferred, he/she must order a transcript. Click here for information on transcripts.
