Applied Health Sciences
AHS Mission Statement
The mission of Applied Health Science Department is to prepare allied health students for entry-level employment and/or advanced graduate study in disciplines associated with health, wellness and rehabilitation.
The department seeks to meet present and future health and allied health care needs of both the regional and global communities as well as promote the well-being for their citizens.
We prepare future allied health professionals by providing students with essential discipline specific and interdisciplinary skills, which are necessary for successful careers in Community Health, Exercise Science, Pre-Health Professions, Wellness, Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Management.
Student learning is enhanced through engagement with community stakeholders during clinical experiences on and off campus, including hands-on laboratory experiences, practicums, internships, supervised practice experiences, research experiences and service learning opportunities not only in the region, but throughout the Commonwealth.
The Applied Health Science Faculty are dedicated to discovering and disseminating knowledge through research, scholarly activity and service to aid in meeting the needs of the students and university.
