Athletic training students will take 5 Clinical Experience courses throughout the MSAT curriculum. Each course requires 50-70 clinical hours per credit hour of instruction in addition to the requirements of didactic course work. The Coordinator of Clinical Education assigns clinical rotations and preceptors based on CAATE standards and career objectives.
Clinical rotations are designed to be immersive in nature. Students may spend mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings at the clinical sites. In the final semester of the MSAT curriculum, students are to "live out" a day in the life of the preceptor. The course work during the final semester will be taught online with minimal requirements to attend Murray State campus to allow for distance learning and clinical placements out of area/state.
