Federal Pell Grant

Approximately two-thirds of full-time college students receive some kind of financial aid. Some receive Federal Pell Grants. A Pell Grant is the money the government provides for students who need it to pay for college. Grants, unlike loans, do not have to be repaid. Eligible students receive a specified amount each year under this program.

All students are required to take the ACT before entering college. We encourage students to take the assessment multiple times between the end of their junior year and senior graduation. The AIMS office has a fee waiver for one of the tests, and offer multiple ACT prep workshops throughout the year.

Need extra money for college beyond Financial Aid, contact the Student Loan People. They offer forgiveness loans for Nurses, Law, Math/Science/Foreign Language teachers for every year you work in the state of Kentucky. Contact them for more details.

FastWeb is a great resource to apply for national scholarships that are available across the entire United States. Make sure you check with your desired college's scholarship office for local and regional scholarships. If you are a senior the applications are usually due around January for your upcoming freshman year of college.
