Group Visits

Elementary School Groups

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce our campus to your students at such an early age.  At this time, we do not offer guided tours for elementary or middle school groups.  We do encourage you to explore campus on your own and observe what life in a university setting is like.  You can do this by downloading the Self Guided Walking Tour for Elementary School Groups

We are a learning institution; learning is the priority on campus.  Therefore, to avoid possible disruptions in the classroom and to current students who may be studying, groups will not have the opportunity to go into a classroom, the library or a residential college.

We would like to encourage students and their parents to visit again during high school for a more personal, individual visit to campus.  At that time you will be given the full tour of campus which includes the parts that are omitted during a group visit.

Benefits of a Self Guided Walking Tour

  • You can visit campus on your own date and time.
  • You can do the tour at the pace of your group as opposed to the pace of a tour guide.
  • You can take breaks at your convenience.
  • With the correct number of chaperons, you can break your group into smaller and more manageable groups as opposed to a tour with only one guide.
  • Bring sack lunches and have a picnic in the quad.
Sample Schedule
9:00 am Arrive on Campus/Rest Room Break
9:30 am Self Guided Walking tour of Campus
11:00 am Sack Lunch Picnic in Quad
12:00 pm Browse the University Bookstore
1:00 pm Depart for home

This is a walking tour; please have students dress for the local weather.  We also suggest you encourage students to wear comfortable shoes, as you will be walking and the tour takes approximately one and a half hours.

Be sure to register your group prior to your visit.  By doing so, after arriving on campus the head chaperon can stop by our office to pick up a visitors pack, which will include copies of the Self Guided Walking Tour for Elementary School Groups and a Racer Spirit Pack.
