Ordering and Deadlines
A two week notice is appreciated to ensure appropriate levels of staffing and availability of your chosen menu items. To place an order or schedule an appointment to arrange menus and service details please contact the Catering Office at 270.809.2746. Our sales staff will be on hand to assist you 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. To book a room in the Curris Center, contact Shari Wilkins at (270) 809-6985. To book The Murray Room at the CFSB Center, contact Amy Maness at (270) 809-5577. To arrange for tables or chairs to be set up anywhere else on campus, contact Facilities Management at (270) 809-4291.
Final guest count is due 72 hours prior to your event. Guest counts for Monday events are due by 2p.m. the Thursday before. Your guest count is called the guaranteed number. The customer is responsible for and charges are based upon the guaranteed number. If the actual guest count is greater than the guaranteed number, you will be notified and billed for greater number. Once a contract is written, prices are guaranteed 90 days prior to any event. Otherwise, prices are subject to change with out notice.
The time allotted for Catering to clear and clean up will be designated by the customer when booking the event. If staff is prohibited from clearing the event at the designated time, an additional charge will apply. A total of three hours are allotted for events including service staff. Any additional time will be billed at an additional cost.
All menus for buffet or reception services have denoted minimums, please see menus for details. All orders for delivery must meet a minimum of $100 before delivery charge. Delivery charges are: on campus $35, inside Murray city limits $50, outside Murray city limits $100. We do not deliver outside of Calloway County. Delivery charges will be waived for orders of $250 or more. Events scheduled after normal business hours may be required to meet a minimum amount.
Any unused food products at the conclusion of an event are the property of the Murray State Catering Department and cannot be removed by guests.
Service staff is available to help serve at your event. The charge is $20 per hour per server. Minimum: 2 servers for 4 hours.
On-site locations include the Curris Center and the Murray Room and generally include china, silver, glassware, linen napkins and tablecloths, service, setup and cleanup. Off-site locations, which encompass other campus locations, generally include disposable foam plates, cutlery kits, paper napkins and setup. Additional items and services depend upon your chosen menu, guest count and event. Centerpieces and table decorations are not provided by Racer Hospitality Catering.
To avoid being billed for any costs incurred, 72 hours notice is required to cancel an event. Examples of incurred costs include but are not limited to the cost of food items and supplies ordered for your event.
All food for Curris Center and Murray Room events will be provided by Murray State Dining Services and Catering Department. As part of the actual University, Dining Services helps support the Murray State community. Catering is on location and will have immediate access to accommodate all your catering needs at reasonable and competitive prices. If, however, you would like to request a food waiver to permit food from other sources, please review the Food Waiver Request. If your event falls within one of the four allowable circumstances outlined in the request, please print, complete and return the Food Waiver Form (included with the request document) to the Catering Department located on the first floor of the Curris Center.
