Art Education

Art Education curriculum includes preparation in areas of studio production, art history, art criticism and aesthetics. Students are given numerous opportunities for “hands-on” classroom experience. Art education students, for example, teach art enrichment classes in the community as preparation for the student teaching experience.

One of the major strengths of the Art Education program is that it is housed within the College of Fine Arts and Humanities in the Department of Art & Design. This enables comprehensive program coordination between Art Education and all Studio Art areas. Additionally, the Art Education program is approved by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Facilities

Art Education has 1,296 square feet of studio space open 24 hours a day. Individual studio spaces for students with an emphasis in art education are available when they register for upper-level studio courses.
