American Industrial Hygiene Association - (AIHA)
The Murray State University AIHA Student Local Chapter is a professional organization that focuses on issues related to industrial hygiene. Its main function is to promote academic excellence and professionalism among its members. Some of the benefits associated with this organization are national recognition, AIHA privileges, first-hand knowledge of available jobs locally and nationally, and chapter's scholarship. All student members are encouraged to actively attend all meetings and contribute to the chapter's activities such as raising funds, promoting speakers and topics of interest, and becoming more involved in the department's functions.
The Murray State University AIHA Student Local Chapter was nationally recognized as the Student Local Section of the Year in 1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010.

Dues: Local - $15.00/semester, National - $10.00/year

2012-2013 AIHA Officers
American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE)
The mission of the American Society of Safety Engineers is to serve as a means to enhance the status and promote the advancement of all safety disciplines, and to foster the technical, scientific, and managerial knowledge and skills of all safety and health professionals. The MSU student section supports the philosophies of the Purchase Chapter with regard to professional development of its members. Activities include hosting a Job Shadow Day, a Career Day, and the annual Stallion Classic Golf Tournament. The organization also invites safety professionals to speak at meetings. In addition the student section assists with the MSU Occupational Safety and Health Spring Event, the annual Kentucky Governor's Safety and Health Conference, and various community service related projects.
The Murray State University ASSE Student Chapter was nationally recognized as the Outstanding Student Section of the Year in 1985, 1992, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008.

Rho Sigma Kappa
Rho Sigma Kappa is an Honor Society in occupational safety and health. The purpose of this society is to:
- Honor and recognize those students of safety sciences who distinguish themselves through academic achievement and exemplary character
- Foster scholarship and promote student leadership
- Contribute to the advancement of professionalism in safety
Student Chapter Advisor: Dr. Tracey Wortham
Dues: $10.00 per semester
- Junior or Senior Status
- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours including a minimum 15 hours of OSH courses
- Cumulative overall GPA of no less than 3.0 and a 3.2 GPA on all OSH courses
- Faculty Recommendation
- Successful completion of 9 hours of graduate courses
- GPA of no less than 3.5
- Faculty recommendation
- Successful completion of undergraduate prerequisites

Semiconductor Environmental Safety and Health Association (SESHA)
Murray State University is home to SESHA's first student chapter. SESHA is a professional organization dedicated to communication and education concerning environmental, health, and safety issues relating to the electronics and high technology industries. All student members are encouraged to attend and participate in all chapter events.
