NATA: National Athletic Trainers’ Association. “The professional membership association for certified athletics trainers and others who support the athletic training profession.”
NATA-ECE: Executive Committee for Education is a committee within the NATA that provides the direction for athletic training education.
BOC: Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer. To become a certified athletic trainer, you must graduate from a CAATE-accredited institution and pass the BOC exam. The BOC administers the certification exam for athletic trainer candidates and sets standards for recertification.
CAATE: Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. This agency provides accreditation to institutions offering athletic training degree programs.
KATS: Kentucky Athletic Trainers’ Society. State membership association for certified athletic trainers.
SEATA: Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association. Regional membership association for certified athletic trainers.
NATAREF: A nonprofit corporation separate from the NATA that supports research and other scholarly endeavors for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession.
KBML: Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure. To work as an athletic trainer in the State of Kentucky, you must be certified by the KBML.
