NLS students must first complete two core classes, one of which must be NLS 350 prior to applying for an internship. Internships can be completed in any approved nonprofit organization. Here is a list of some national, regional and local organizations for consideration: Internship Resource
The internship (NLS 400) counts as 3 credit hours total, includes 300 hours at the internship site, and involves weekly reports, a midterm, final, and project paper. The NLS Internship Packet may be purchased from the Murray State Bookstore or downloaded here: NLS Internship Packet. It includes all required forms as well as general internship information. Internships have been completed as close as Murray and Lexington, Kentucky and as far away as Russia, Taiwan, Africa and Brazil. There are endless possibilities!
