Message from the Dean
The College of Education is proud of its outstanding reputation for preparing professionals in early childhood, elementary, library media, middle and secondary education, reading and writing, special education, vocational and technology education, school administration, school psychology, and counseling. These programs are characterized by personalized attention from faculty and hands-on experience in public school settings. Murray State University's teacher preparation program has been accredited by the Commonwealth of Kentucky since the institution's beginning as a state normal school in 1923.
In addition, the programs within the College of Education are accredited nationally by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The College of Education is located in a new state of the art facility. The facility, Alexander Hall, has new furnishings, a smart board and computers in each classroom, three computer labs and wireless technology access throughout the building. We invite you to visit this web site for additional information about specific programs or to arrange a personal visit with faculty in Alexander Hall.
