Training Resource Center

The purpose of the Training Resource Center is to provide for the continuing education training and support to social workers, foster/adoptive families, and teens of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. This support includes, but is not limited to, the provision of on-the-floor training, facilitation and coordination of trainings, conference and meeting planning, the identification of local trainers/facilitators.  Programs areas include:

  • Independent Living Services
  • KY Foster and Adoptive Parent Training Support Network
  • Resource Parent Training

Services provided by the TRC include computer literacy training, cultural diversity, AIDS/HIV training, and the coordination, development, and writing of grants related to social services and training. Fostering and Adopting the Child Who Has Been Sexually Abused (SWK 121) and Group Preparation and Selection of Foster and Adoptive Families (SWK 120) are classes for foster and adoptive families for which college credit is awarded. Continuing education and training is provided both on the campus of MSU and at various locations throughout the state to meet the needs of staff and foster and adoptive parents.

The TRC is a professional development program funded by a variety of different sources including the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
