"Big Brothers Big Sisters of Murray/Calloway County has enjoyed a wonderful cooperative relationship with the AH/YNL program at MSU for about 13 years now! Without the vision of Dr. Roger Weis and his students, with community volunteers, BBBS would not even exist! Throughout the years, AH/YNL students at MSU have been supportive in many ways….they have raised money to support our Buddy Campaign which keeps us in business from year to year, planned projects where we reap the reward of new volunteers and letting people know who we are, hosted events for the kids in our programs and provided interns in our office to keep things running efficiently! Big Brothers Big Sisters of Murray/Calloway County looks forward to a long, mutually benefitting relationship with MSU and the AH/YNL program for years to come!"

"I know I speak for both former MSU President and AH national board member Deno Curris and myself, when I express how proud we are of the development of the American Humanics program on the MSU campus.  I was so pleased to be part of the celebration of your 25th anniversary and to see again many leaders who have consistently and loyally been a part of the program.  When I was the MSU President, I had the honor of hiring Roger Weis and what an enormous contribution he has made to the field of nonprofit leadership/management and to youth work.  Since MSU was one of the early public universities with the full comprehensive program, your faculty and the students have made countless contributions to the fields of youth work and nonprofit leadership.  I meet the MSU AH graduates all over the nation and they are holding key leadership positions with major national nonprofit organizations.  The American Humanics program at MSU was named the outstanding academic program in the nation in 2006 and Kellogg Foundation has consistently invested in the innovations and leadership of the program.  The MSU AH program is clearly one of the stars!    In appreciation of your leadership and service to our nation,"

"The Youth & Nonprofit Leadership (YNL) program at Murray State provided me with a whole new outlook on life. In a world where the majority of students are focused on choosing a career that will provide them with the largest income, YNL reminds students of the differences we can make in our neighbors life and what an impact that will leave on their lives and our own. I am so thankful that Murray State provides a minor such as YNL that allows us a career path that focuses on service and making a genuine difference in our community and the world around us."

“The American Humanics program opened my eyes to a whole new world of career opportunities.  Through minoring in YNL I gained insight about various non-profit jobs, learned valuable skills in becoming a leader of my community and most importantly the value of giving back.  Upon graduation from the AH program I felt prepared, excited and ready to attack the non-profit world!  I am thankful to the AH program for giving me purpose in my career path and am especially grateful to the professors who continue to serve as my strongest mentors.”
