Steps for Completion of Graduate Thesis Payment and Processing

Step 1: It is the responsibility of the student and/or thesis advisor to monitor the approval and submission process. Please refer to the Guidelines for The Preparation of Master's Theses for further reference. Two weeks prior to the anticipated date of graduation (i.e., the day the degree is to be conferred) the original copy of the thesis and two signature pages printed on Thesis Bond paper should be routed to and signed by at least three members of the student’s Graduate Thesis Committee, the Collegiate Graduate Coordinator, and the Dean of the College/School.
Step 2:Student should complete the Graduate Thesis Payment and Processing Form, pay the graduate thesis processing fee of $105.50 using credit/debit card or by electronic check, and complete the ProQuest Thesis Submission Form.
Standard thesis processing fee includes 1 department, 1 Murray State University Libraries, and 2 student copies. Extra student and advisor copies my be obtained at $27.50 each – see Graduate Thesis Payment and Processing Form for details.
Should a student wish to pay the graduate thesis processing fee in cash or check, they may do so at Sparks Hall, 2nd floor cashier's window.
Step 3: Student to deliver the following to the Office of the Provost, 333 Wells Hall, for signature of the university graduate coordinator and the Provost:
- One final copy of the thesis on regular paper;
- A signed signature page on thesis bond paper for each copy of a thesis requested. (example: 4 thesis = 4 signature pages)
- A printed copy of the Graduate Thesis Payment and Processing Form;
- A printed receipt showing payment of the thesis processing fee;
- One single electronic pdf file of the entire thesis on a CD ROM with the full name on the cover of the white CD sleeve. The file should be your final copy as approved to be printed and uploaded to ProQuest for permanent archival;
Please note at least one week should be allowed for approval and signature of which the student will be called or emailed when these items are ready to be picked up from the Office of the Provost.
Step 4:Student to pick up the items listed in Step 3 above from the Office of the Provost and deliver them to Waterfield Library's Technical Services Department, Room 224, at least three (3) working days prior to the last day of final exams for thesis processing. At this time Graduate Admissions and Records will be notified by Waterfield Library that you have completed all the steps for your thesis for graduation pending passage of all required courses and other program requisites.
Step 5: Allow 6-8 weeks for your bound thesis copies to be mailed to you at the mailing address listed on the Graduate Thesis Payment and Processing Form.
