Athletes demand a lot from their bodies and their bodies demand a higher level of nutrition to endure it. Dining Services helps meet those needs.
Coaches looking for a way to emphasize the importance of nutrition to
their players can contact Dining to see how we can help. Special meal services can be arranged.
Athletes just looking for a little advice on what's the best of the best for you on campus, feel free to e-mail Dining's nutrition staff at winslow.nutrition@murraystate.edu.
General Guidelines
HEALTHY DIET A healthy diet is an important
part of all lifestyles, but it can be especially important for
athletes. For athletes to perform to their potential, they must watch
what they eat, and fill their diets with healthy foods that provide the
appropriate number of calories and amounts of carbohydrates, protein,
and fat. At Winslow Dining Hall a variety of heart-healthy options are
available every day.
BREAKFAST Every morning
during football season Winslow Dining Hall serves an early breakfast
for the football players to make sure they are provided the most
important meal of the day. All you athletes out there – and everyone
else for that matter – take from this example and eat a hearty,
healthy, breakfast to start your day! Where’s a more perfect place to
start than at the all-you-can-eat endless variety and choices at
Winslow?
NUTRITION INFORMATION Nutrition
information for the foods Winslow serves is posted in the dining hall
next to the Daily Fare line and online
so you can see how your meal measures up in terms of calorie,
carbohydrate, protein, and fat recommendations. For a calorie-counter,
BMI calculator, and nutrition guidelines check out “Helpful
Tools and Links” section of this Web site.
